Australia prime minister to team: We are behind you
The Australia Men’s National Team got a high level sendoff this week as they prepare for the 2015 IFAF World Championship.
As Outback players and coaches train at Ashland University, Australia Prime Minister Tony Abbott took to YouTube to wish his country’s team well and let them know a nation is behind them.
“Gridiron is a fierce sport, and that’s why it appeals to an increasing number of Australians,” Abbott said. “And while we may not have history of gridiron here, you are making history at these world championships.”
Australia opens the tournament at noon Thursday, July 9, against South Korea at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio.
